ARP – Advance Reservation Period will be reduced to 60 days from 01.05.2013 Advance Reservation Period for Booking Reserved Train Tickets Reduced to 60 Days from Existing 120 Days from 1st May 2013. The Ministry of Railways has decided that the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking reserved train tickets will be reduced from existing 120 days to 60 days (excluding the date of journey) w.e.f. 1st May 2013. The details are as below:- I.    With effect from 01.05.2013, the ARP will be of 60 days (excluding the day of journey) and booking will be done accordingly. However, all the bookings done upto 30.4.2013 under the ARP of 120 days will remain intact. II.    Cancellation of the booking made beyond the ARP of 60 days will, however, be permitted. No merger of D.A. but seventh pay commission likely this year According to our sources in New Delhi, there is no chance of any merger of Dearness Allowance with basic pay as demanded by the associations. But the Government is considering the formation of seventh pay commission. The seventh CPC is scheduled to be effective from 1.1.2016 and if it is formed this year, there will be ample time to finalize it's recommendations. Moreover, if it is not effective from an earlier date, the Govt. will be free from any burden of paying arrears, which may adversely effect the fiscal situation. Most significantly, in the eve of general election, the Govt. may spread a "feel good" situation among the employees without having to pay an extra penny from the exchequer. Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Finance 18-April-2013 20:45 IST Release of additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to central government employees and Dearness Relief to pensioners, due from 1.1.2013 The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from 01.01.2013 at the rate of 8 percent over the existing rate of 72 percent. Thus, the combined impact on the exchequer on account of both DA and DR would be of the order of Rs.8629.20 crore per annum and Rs. 10067.36 crore in the financial year 2013-14 (that is for a period of 14 months from January, 2013 to February, 2014).

Power Cut in Andhra Pradesh–Power cut slashed to one hour The power cut of three hours a day is being implemented to the domestic customers in capital city of Hyderabad, now it has been reduced to one hour a day, sources said. It seems slightly happy news to hear the power shutdown is reducing to one hour a day in the major cities and other towns, rural areas of Andhra Pradesh. As well as in the district head quarters, the electricity power supply shutdown to be reduced to two hours instead of four hours. The power shutdown timings also changed in the state and still people are facing four hour power cut in the town and municipality areas. In the areas of mandal headquarters 6 hours is being implemented, sources said.
