SELF REGULATION FOR TV CHANNELS The below information was submitted as written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on 5th March, 2013 by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting as follows... The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), an industry body representing major satellite TV channels, has set up a two tier self-regulatory mechanism for entertainment channels with the first tier at the level of broadcaster and the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) at second tier. The BCCC is a thirteen (13) Member body consisting of a Chairperson being retired Judge of the Supreme Court or High Court and 12 other Members from various spheres of expertise. The number and nature of complaints received during the last three years in the Ministry, along with the action taken thereon with respect to the provisions contained in the Advertising Code and Programme Code enshrined in the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 is attached as Annexure-I.
