Approval of setting ESI Hospitals in Kanyakumari and Tuticorin districts... While answering in the Parliament to a question by the Minister for State for Labour and Employment Shri Kodikunnil Suresh said that the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)  has approved setting up of a 100 Bedded ESI Hospital each at Kanyakumari and Tuticorin.

Minister of Labour and Employment shri Kodidunnil Suresh said, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) issues two bio-metric Pehchan Cards under the IT Project ‘Panchdeep’ to the Insured Persons(IPs) covered under the ESI Scheme. One card is for use of the Insured Person and other for use by his family. The card has a unique ten-digit Insurance Number, name, date of birth, address and photograph of Insured Person and his family. The bio-metric card is used to access the central database containing all the data with family details, medical history of Insured Person (IP) and his family to ensure proper availability of benefits to Industrial workers. Sis Ram Ola Inaugurates ESIC Model Hospital at Jaipur Shri Sis Ram Ola, Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India today inaugurated the state-of-the-art ESIC Model Hospital at Jaipur. While inaugurating the Hospital, Shri Sis Ram Ola also informed the gathering that ESIC is also going to start its own Medical Colleges in Alwar (Rajasthan), Joka (West Bengal), Gulbarga (Karnataka) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu). Shri Mange Lal Garsia, Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Govt. of Rajasthan presided over the function. The ESI Corporation is committed to work for the welfare of workers and improvement in their quality of life and for providing all possible social security to them. 151 Employees State Insurance (ESI) Hospitals in India The Minister of Labour and Employment has given reply to a question about the ESI Hospitals in the Parliament on 4.3.2013 as follows... Total number of Employees State Insurance (ESI) Hospitals in the country including those run by the State Governments is 151. The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has approved setting up of 23 new hospitals in the country. While the proposal for setting of ESI hospital at Perumbavoor in Kerala have been approved in the 159th Meeting of ESI Corporation held on 08.02.2013, no new hospital is proposed to be set-up at Kuppam (Andhra Pradesh).
