Mini Bus Scheme in Tamil Nadu : The transport services provided by the Government to the public is increasing day by day. More than 18,000 buses are operated through out the State. These facilities are available in rural, semi-urban and urban areas. Apart from this public transport system, recognizing the need to provide public transport facilities to the people of unserved or inadequately served , semi-urban and rural areas, the Government introduced the " Mini-bus Services Scheme " to be operated by private individuals from 1997. Considering the benefits of this scheme ' Government modified this scheme in 1999 enabling operations of Mini Buses in the rural areas for a total distance of 20 kms, with an overlapping distance of 4 kms on the served sectors . This modified scheme has been challenged before the Court of Law and Government is taking appropriate steps to have the matter sorted out. Presently 3959 mini buses are plying in Tamilnadu. Bonus for Tamilnadu PSU Employees The State Government of Tamilnadu announced bonus and ex-gratia to the employees working in public sector undertakings about more than three lakh. Ahead of festival season, the chief minister J.Jayalalithaa informed that the bonus of 8.33% and an ex-gratia of 11.67% would be paid to the employees of PSU for the year 2012-13.

Ahead of Deepavali Festival, Tamilnadu government has decided to issue bonus to TASMAC Employees this year. In Tamilnadu nearly about 6800 Liquor Shops and 28000 employees are serving under the Department of TASMAC. Supervisors and Salesmen are getting bonus amount of Rs.4200 and Asst. Salesmen get Rs.3450 as the total of bonus and ex-gratia.

I&B Ministry Constantly Monitoring Digital Switch Over in phase II – Digitization Reaches 67% in Phase II Cities Complete Digitization achieved in 4 cities, 8 cities achieve more than 75% target 28 cities achieve more than 50%. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been consistently monitoring the progress made towards digitization during Phase II of the process. The I&B Minister, Shri Manish Tewari has been reviewing the progress on a daily basis. As per the latest data regarding the progress achieved so far 67% of the digitization target has been achieved in 38 cities, set for digitization by 31st March, 2013. As per the data received from the DTH operators and the MSOs, as on 23.03.2013, a total of 108 lakhs Set Top Boxes (STBs) have already been installed in Phase-II cities against the target of 1.60 crore, registering overall achievement of over 67% digitization. A Coach of Tamilnadu Express Catches Fire Near Nellore Station in Andhra Pradesh 32 Dead and 25 Injured in the Accident There was an unfortunate incident of fire in train no. 12622 New Delhi-Chennai Tamilnadu Express at Nellore station (Andhra Pradesh) of Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway at about 0422 hours today i.e. 30th July 2012.   While the train was on run, fire broke out in Sleeper Class Coach S-11, positioned 20th from train engine.  As a result of the fire, this coach got completely burnt.  As per latest information received, 32 passengers lost their lives in this unfortunate incident, 25 passengers with burn injuries have been admitted to Government Hospital, Nellore and a nearby private hospital.  The dead bodies are yet to be identified.
