Night Mega Block on Western Railway As per the press release issued by the Western Railway, a night block will be carried out 12th October, 2013… The details are given below… Night block on Wrly A night block will be carried out from 00.30 hrs to 04.00 hrs o­n Up Local (i.e. slow) line and o­n Down Local line from 01.00 hrs to 04.00 hrs o­n 12th October, 2013 between Vasai Road and Virar for maintenance of track, signalling and overhead equipments. During the block, all local line trains will be run o­n Through (i.e. fast) lines between Borivali/Vasai Road and Virar. During the block, Down Churchgate – Virar locals will be run o­n fast lines between Virar and Vasai Road/Borivali. Detailed information to this effect is available with concerned Station Masters. Passengers are requested to take note of the above arrangements.

Stoppage of 11301/11302 Mumbai-Bengaluru-Mumbai Udyan Express at Uruli Station from 1.10.2013 STOPPAGE OF 11301/11302 UDYAN EXPRESS AT URULI STATION Railways have decided to provide halt to 11301/11302 Mumbai CST-Bangalore-Mumbai CST Udyan Express at Uruli station o­n experimental basis for a period of six months with effect from 1.10.2013. An another Double Decker Train introduced between Habibganj and Indore AC Double Decker Train Service between Habibganj and Indore in Madhya Pradesh Flagged Off The AC Double Decker train between Habibganj and Indore, the first ever such train service in the state of Madhya Pradesh, was flagged off by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury at Habibganj railway station in Bhopal today i.e. 27th September 2013. This LHB AC Double Decker is the fifth such train in the country. All Zonal Railways are conducting ticket-checking drives Indian Railways Steps up Fortress Checks to Curb Ticketless Travel With a view to curbing the ticketless travel, a series of fortress checks were organized by various Zonal Railways during this month of September 2013. During the last month, such checks were carried at thirteen major stations including Lucknow, Patna, Bhopal, Nagpur, Vijayawada, Chennai, Howrah, Delhi and Pune. At some of the major stations around 500 to 1000 ticketless travelers were apprehended during each check. It is proposed to continue such fortress checks during the coming months. Indian Railway has decided to fit a new fuel saving device called Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in Diesel Locomotives… Newly Built Diesel Locomotives on Indian Railways to be Fitted With a Fuel Saving Device In yet another technological improvement and upgradation, Indian Railways has now decided to install a new fuel saving device called Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in Diesel Locomotives which will result in saving of more than Rs 20 lakh per locomotive annually. To begin with, this device has been installed in twelve existing diesel locomotives through retrofitment. In future, Indian Railways plan to fit APU on 100 per cent in newly built diesel locomotives which will then result in saving of more than Rs. 60 crore annually in future. ARP – Advance Reservation Period will be reduced to 60 days from 01.05.2013 Advance Reservation Period for Booking Reserved Train Tickets Reduced to 60 Days from Existing 120 Days from 1st May 2013. The Ministry of Railways has decided that the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking reserved train tickets will be reduced from existing 120 days to 60 days (excluding the date of journey) w.e.f. 1st May 2013. The details are as below:- I.    With effect from 01.05.2013, the ARP will be of 60 days (excluding the day of journey) and booking will be done accordingly. However, all the bookings done upto 30.4.2013 under the ARP of 120 days will remain intact. II.    Cancellation of the booking made beyond the ARP of 60 days will, however, be permitted. III.    There will be no change in the case of certain day time express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express etc. where lower time limits for advance reservations are at present in force....
