Retirement age of Vice Chancellors has been revised from 65 to 70

Retirement age of Vice Chancellors has been revised from 65 to 70 in Tamil Nadu.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has increased the retirement age of Vice Chancellors of nine State Universities from 65 to 70. This move that has been greeted by experts and its come to effect through the Tamil Nadu Universities Laws (Amendments) Ordinance, 2012.

The Tamil Nadu Governor has promulgated this ordinance on July 14.

The nine Universities are :
1 Bharathiar University,
2 Bharathidasan University,
3 Mother Terasa Women’s University,
4 Alagappa University,
5 Manonmaniam Sundaranar University,
6 Periyar University,
7 Tamil Nadu Open University,
8 Tiruvalluvar University and
9 Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University.
