Subject : Strengthening of administration - Periodical review under FR 56/Rule 48 of CCS(Pension) Rules

Instructions exist on the need for periodical review of performance of Government servants with a view to ascertain whether the Government servant should be retained in service or retired from service in the public interest. Provisions in this regard are contained in FR 56 (j), FR 56(l) and Rule 48(1) (b) of CCS(Pension) Rules, 1972.

2. As per these instructions the cases of Government servant covered by FR 56(j). 56(l) or Rule 48(1) (b) of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 should be reviewed six months before he/she attains the age of 50/55 years, in cases covered by FR 56(j) and on completion of 30 years of qualifying service under FR 56(1)1 Rule 48 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 1972 as per the following time table:

1 January to March July to September of the same year
2 April to June October to December of the same year
3 July to September January to March of the next year
4 October to December April to June of the next year


3. The procedure as prescribed from time to time has been consolidated and enclosed as Appendix to this OM.

4. All Ministries / Departments are requested to follow these instructions and periodically review the cases of Govt. servants as required under FR 56(j)/FR56(l)/Rule 48(l)(b) of CCS (Pension) Rules,1972.

Age restriction for availing LTC to son and daughter regarding...

What is the age of dependent son and daughter for LTC claim...? Is there any rule for unmarried dependent children are eligible to avail Leave Travel Concession or dependency is the only criteria..? Generally says that the female children are eligible upto marriage and male children are eligible upto age of twenty five. And one more view that the age limit for children in case of LTC should be same as for CGHS facility. According to the CCS (LTC) Rules, 1998, there is no indication of age, "Family" definition is given in the rule, "two surviving unmarried children wholly dependent on the Government servant, irrespective of whether they are residing with the Government servant or not". There is no age limit for availing LTC for the wholly dependent son or daughter.

Mini Bus Scheme in Tamil Nadu

Mini Bus Scheme in Tamil Nadu : The transport services provided by the Government to the public is increasing day by day. More than 18,000 buses are operated through out the State. These facilities are available in rural, semi-urban and urban areas. Apart from this public transport system, recognizing the need to provide public transport facilities to the people of unserved or inadequately served , semi-urban and rural areas, the Government introduced the " Mini-bus Services Scheme " to be operated by private individuals from 1997. Considering the benefits of this scheme ' Government modified this scheme in 1999 enabling operations of Mini Buses in the rural areas for a total distance of 20 kms, with an overlapping distance of 4 kms on the served sectors .
