24 Hospitals That Refuse To Treat Central Government Employees under CGHS Scheme

24 hospitals that had refused to provide Cashless Treatment to Central Government employees under CGHS have been issued show cause notice and the empanelment of five hospitals has been suspended for a period of six months or till further orders, whichever is earlier. 

A Press Statement was released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today for the attention of the beneficiaries of CGHS. The report also cautions the employees against trusting false information that is being spread with malicious intentions, regarding Cashless Treatment in Empanelled Hospitals under Central Government Health Scheme. 

The report says that only 24 hospitals have made their decisions regarding Cashless Treatment and they have all been suspended. The report adds that other than these 24 hospitals, the Central Government employees can avail the Cashless Treatment facilities in all the empanelled hospitals, as usual. The report also points out that the reserve fund to reimburse these hospitals is fast depleting. 

About six months ago, a report would have been published in the leading newspapers, according to which the Association of Health Care Providers had allegedly said that they are planning to end the Cashless Treatment Service from January 2014 onwards and that they have demanded that the 3 months Package rate be revised. 

It is saddening to see these hospitals play with the health of Central Government employees, the pensioners and their family members, by denying Cashless Treatment for their own personal reasons. These hospitals needed CGHS schemes in the beginning to sustain their growth. We don’t know if it is right on their part to denounce the scheme once they have established themselves. 

It is being said that the Ministry has hastily called for tenders on the basis of new package rates and the deal is on the verge of finalizing.  

The Central Government employees and pensioners are hoping that the Central Government Health Scheme, which has over 400 hospitals on its roll in 25 cities, continues functioning as before.

Age restriction for availing LTC to son and daughter regarding...

What is the age of dependent son and daughter for LTC claim...? Is there any rule for unmarried dependent children are eligible to avail Leave Travel Concession or dependency is the only criteria..? Generally says that the female children are eligible upto marriage and male children are eligible upto age of twenty five. And one more view that the age limit for children in case of LTC should be same as for CGHS facility. According to the CCS (LTC) Rules, 1998, there is no indication of age, "Family" definition is given in the rule, "two surviving unmarried children wholly dependent on the Government servant, irrespective of whether they are residing with the Government servant or not". There is no age limit for availing LTC for the wholly dependent son or daughter.

Mini Bus Scheme in Tamil Nadu : The transport services provided by the Government to the public is increasing day by day. More than 18,000 buses are operated through out the State. These facilities are available in rural, semi-urban and urban areas. Apart from this public transport system, recognizing the need to provide public transport facilities to the people of unserved or inadequately served , semi-urban and rural areas, the Government introduced the " Mini-bus Services Scheme " to be operated by private individuals from 1997.
